NEW! Free pattern: Charlie’s Sock Yarn Hat
Update: As of September 13, 2013 this pattern is no longer available for free on our website. It can be purchased on Ravelry, Charlie’s Sock Yarn Hat.
Do you want to make someone in your life smile like this? Well, Aimee has released her latest pattern and it is free for you at the Polka Dot Sheep. Using only one skein of our fabulous sock yarns (in nearly all cases), you can make this hat for a special someone.
This fun three cornered hat is not just for kids. It is sized for the whole family with six sizes between newborn and adult large. With its wide knit in hem, there is an added layer of warmth for your ears. Obviously self striping or patterning yarn works perfectly for this hat. But it looks equally great in a variegated or solid fingering weight yarns.
As shown, Charlie’s hat is made with one skein of Berroco Sock yarn. But for pennies more for a girl (big or small), what about Berroco Sock Metallic which stripes and sparkles, perfect for a wintery day.

I need to go take my son’s hat out of its warm bath. My boy’s hat is made out of Dream in Color Everlasting Sock. But I have a dilemma, I love the pom poms but he has dismantled all pom poms and tassels on each and every one of his hats. Yes, multiple pom poms off hats from Grammy, gone, much to my dismay leaving yarn bits all over the back seat of the car. So, what do you think: do I try again or just leave it alone and put pom poms on the one I am already planning for my nephew. At least if my nephew takes them apart, I won’t be there to see it. I will let you know what I decided with pictures later this week.
Enjoy the new pattern! You are sure to know someone big or small who will love it as much as Charlie loves his!
