Passionate + Relentless + Unapologetic Colour = Sweet Georgia Yarns

Felicia Lo, owner of Sweet Georgia Yarns, and myself at TNNA

Ever since I first saw Sweet Georgia Yarn in 2009, I have been raving about the colors to anyone who would listen. So that means that Aimee (owner of our lovely shoppe) has heard a lot about them. So I am thrilled to announce that we now are stocking two Sweet Georgia lines, BFL (Blue-Faced Leicester wool) Sock and Superwash DK.

When we found the Sweet Georgia booth at TNNA, I thought I had gone to color heaven. Their tagline, Passionate + Relentless + Unapologetic Colour, really is the truth. Felicia Lo’s colors are easily some of the most intense colors in the hand dyed yarn world. After much debate, we choose the yarn bases of BFL Sock and DK Superwash.

The reasoning behind the BFL Sock  is that our sock knitting customers have been wanting hardy sock yarn in hand dyed colors and the combination of Blue-Faced Leicester wool and 20% nylon gives that strength. Plus Sweet Georgia has long been known for their variegated colors that knits up into fabulous socks. Like all fingerweight yarn, BFL sock also will make wonderful shawls, hats, and sweaters.

We are always on the lookout for great sweater yarns and the Sweet Georgia DK fits that criteria. The yarn is tightly plied making for great stitch definition, no matter the stitch pattern. It is also superwash wool making it very user-friendly. Of course you don’t have to make sweaters with this yarn. DK weight is great weight for accessories, not too bulky but still smooshy for that extra warmth and comfort.

We are thrilled to be working with Felica and Sweet Georgia. We are confident you are going to love this yarn in all its glorious colors as much as we do.

I will be back later this week with some pattern suggestions for these yarns starting with the BFL Sock (because that is what I am knitting with right now).

Happy Fall, it is time to really get knitting for the cold weather ahead. Think how much more fun snow will be knowing you are wearing brightly colored wool socks you made yourself.
