Some of the monsters from our knitalong are all finished and out having adventures already!
Kristy’s Ivy headed right out into the wilds of Montana and ignored all prudent advice about interacting with bears. Very brave for such a little monster! Ivy was made using Berroco Sox Metallic (striping yarn) with leftover yarns in solids.
Theresa’s Daphne and Delilah, knit with vintage Brown Sheep, also wanted to go out into the wilds. Desiring to be well prepared, they read up on encountering bears and stopped by the Sportsman & Ski Haus for some bear spray. But they know that you are not to approach bears, unlike Ivy.
Ticklishgypsy’s Penelope decided to keep her wildlife encounters closer to home. However, she is not sure if the kitty really means well and would rather snuggle with a human being. Penelope is perfect for snuggling since she is made with the soft and smooshy Malabrigo Worsted and other assorted yarns.
Then there is the home body type monster in the bunch, Melissa’s Baldwin. He decided to forgo all adventuring and stay in his favorite place, Melissa’s El Bano. He is knit in Malabrigo Worsted.
Our KAL is not quite over so keep your eyes open for more monsters adventuring or perhaps just snuggling and playing with their friends.
All the monsters shown here are designed by Rebecca Danger. They are either available as individual patterns in store at the Knit ‘n Needle or on Ravelry except Baldwin, he is in the fabulous The Big Book of Knitted Monsters.
These little guys are really easy and fun to knit and any yarn works with them. Surely someone in your life would be delighted to find a monster under the Christmas tree.
Looking towards Christmas, I will be serving up some posts with gift suggestions to knit and to give to the yarn lovers in your life (or for you to use a hint to those who love you). We are also plotting a new KAL with a new skill for the New Year, look for details later in December.
All photos in this blog were taken by the knitters of the pictured monster and used with permission.
