Crown Jewel KAL: Ready, Set, Cast On

Are you ready to cast on the Crown Jewel Hat? Well, so am I.

Okay, I have “cheated” and started my hat already. I wanted to take some pictures for explanation for you. So I began my hat.

If you want to have a distinct color change between the brim of the hat and triangles, I took a few pictures to show you how to do it.

So there you have it, you cut chunks of yarn in colors that you don’t want to use.

If you don’t want to weave in the ends, you can spit splice the yarn together. Here is an excellent little photo tutorial from Craftsy on how to spit splice. It is actually a very handy technique to have in your knitting skills arsenal. I chose not to splice here in my knitting so I could show you the two ends.

Our Ravelry thread for the KAL is found here.

So have fun casting on your Crown Jewel. Look for the video tutorial on the entrelac section to be post later today or tomorrow.

Have a fabulous day! Enjoy and happy knitting!
